Belt and Road Forum of Science & Education Integration 2018

October 16th of this year is the 54th anniversary of the successful detonation of our country's first atomic bomb. On the same day, the National Natural Science Foundation of China and Lanzhou University held the Belt and Road Forum of Science & Education Integration 2018
    Wu Wangsuo, dean of the School of Nuclear Science and Technology of Lanzhou University, said he hopes to strengthen cooperation between enterprises, universities and research institutes through the forum to solve the integration of science and education in the development of nuclear energy in the west. From China Academy of Engineering Physics, Institute of Modern Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Plasma physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Atomic Energy, Southwest of Nuclear Physics Research Institute, Xi 'an Jiaotong University and Lanzhou University and other colleges and universities and scientific research institutes of the experts and scholars around the "area" in the western nuclear technology industry development, scientific research, personnel training and other issues, to explore "neighbourhood" all the way along the route in the related fields of nuclear science and technology cooperation and communication.
     Experts and scholars attending the meeting believe that with the launch and implementation of the "Belt And Road" initiative, high-end equipment manufacturing and other major national plans, nuclear science will usher in unprecedented development opportunities along the "Belt And Road" project. At present, relevant personnel in the nuclear industry should make continuous efforts to revitalize basic installations and facilities of nuclear technology, accelerate the development of advanced nuclear materials and related materials, promote nuclear education and knowledge transformation, and serve national defense security and economic construction.
According to Yan Chunhua, President of Lanzhou University and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Lanzhou University is one of the first few universities in China to set up a nuclear major and has never interrupted the cultivation and scientific research of nuclear professionals. Over the past 60 years, nuclear scientists from Lanzhou University have taken root in the west, trained a large number of professionals and made important contributions to China's national defense and economic construction. "In the new era and the era of great changes, we will continue to make independent innovation, industrial support and use Chinese nuclear power to support Chinese energy demand, and use Chinese nuclear power to help Chinese people form green and healthy industries," he said.
