Engineering Research Center for Neutron Application Technology (ERCNAT) was established at Lanzhou University, and sponsored by Ministry of Education of China in April 2001. The mission of ERCNAT is to conduct the physics and technology application of fusion neutron source, develop neutron application technology and products. In November 2004, according to the research decision made by the academic committee of particle physics and nuclear physics, Lanzhou university, ERCNAT relies on the entire scientific research center of particle physics and nuclear physics, and has passed the acceptance inspection of the construction project organized by the ministry of education in November 2004. School of Nuclear Science and Technology was established in 2006, according to the research decision made by the college academic committee and the party and government joint conference, ERCNAT covers the entire college, and relying on the Institute of Particle Physics and Nuclear Physics National Key Disciplines, the Special Disciplines of the National Foundation of Radiochemistry, Nuclear Technology as Characteristic Major of Ministry of Education, Nuclear Science and Technology Talent Training Base (provincial) to construct, manage and operate.
ERCNAT has the national key disciplines of particle physics and nuclear physics, the special disciplines of the national foundation of radiochemistry, two doctor stations, three master stations and a post-doctor station.
ERCNAT has been working on the D-T fusion neutron source technology, neutron physics and neutron application technology for a long time. Successfully developed 1010 n/s, 1011 n/s and 1012n/s neutron generators were awarded the Gansu province Scientific and Technological Conference Award, the 3rd Award of Strategic Arms and Advanced Scientific and Technological Achievements of National Defense Science and Industry Commission, the First Award for Scientific and Technological Advance issued by the State Ministry of Education, the 3rd Award of National Scientific and Technological Advance. ERCNAT undertakes scientific research task, studying on radiation damage of first wall material of fusion-fission hybrid reactor (863 program), radiation damage of semiconductor materials, measurement of neutron activation cross section, and at the same time, research on neutron application technology.
The mission of ERCNAT is to aim for the national demand. Adjusting the direction of scientific research, ERCNAT studies the national defense scientific, development of nuclear energy and nuclear technology application research as the key point. Relying on the Institute of Particle Physics and Nuclear Physics National Key Disciplines, the Special Disciplines of the National Foundation of Radiochemistry, the On-line Collaborative Research Center in Nuclear Science and Technology of ministry of education, the Nuclear Technology as Characteristic Major of Ministry of Education, the Nuclear Science and Technology Talent Training Base (provincial), ERCNAT conducts scientific research, technical development, personnel training and social consulting services related to particle physics, nuclear physics, radiochemistry and nuclear technology.
