Xia Jiawen
Dr. Xia Jiawen, in 1987, got his bachelor's degree in Nuclear Physics from the Department of Modern Physics in Lanzhou University. In 1998, he was selected into the One-hundred Talent Program of the CAS Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 1999, he was awarded the special allowance by the State Council. In 2002, he was selected as an outstanding participant in the One-hundred Talent Program of the CAS. In 2003, he was supported by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of China, and became the leader of the key project of National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Innovative Program of the CAS. In 2007, he was awarded the Nishikawa Prize from Foundation of Accelerator Sciences. In 2008, he was awarded the first prize for Scientific and Technological Progress in Gansu Province. In 2009, he was awarded the Ho Leung Ho Lee prize in Physics and the Outstanding Scientific and Technological Achievement Prize of the CAS. In 2010, he was awarded as “National Excellent Scientist”. In 2012, he won the second prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress Award. Currently, he is vice-director of the Institute of Modern Physics of the CAS, Deputy Director of the National Laboratory of Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou and chief engineer of the first HIMM (Heavy Ion Machine for Medicine) in China. Also, he is vice-chairman of China Radiation Physics Society, deputy secretary-general of China Nuclear Society and executive director of China Particle Accelerator Society. He is an adjunct professor of University of Science and Technology of China and of Lanzhou University. He is editorial board member of 《Chinese Physics C》,《High Power Laser and Particle Beams》 and 《Nuclear Techniques》.
